Hot, home-style lunches delivered to your door

We serve a hot, nutritious noonday meal to those unable to prepare or obtain one for themselves. Our volunteers deliver over the lunch hour, Monday to Friday, within the city of Red Deer.

Receive Meals

Meals are available to anyone 18 and over in Red Deer who can't prepare a meal for themselves. Apply by phone or in person. No referral is needed.

How to apply

Volunteer

Give 90 minutes over the lunch hour to deliver meals to people's homes. Volunteers use their own vehicle and need a clean criminal record check.

We are a registered charity. Donations can be made by phone or in person, and every donation receives a tax receipt.

Our Meals

Our menu runs on an eight-week rotation of old-fashioned farm classics and some authentic meals. Portion sizes follow Canada's Food Guide.

Each meal includes:

  • Soup
  • A main entrĂ©e
  • Dessert

You can also add on:

SaladTuesday and Wednesday

Weekend meals are delivered with your Friday meal, ready to warm up over the weekend.

We prepare special meals for clients with specific dietary needs, including:

  • Lactose-free

  • Heart smart
  • Diabetic friendly

Our program is unique in Red Deer. No other program in the city delivers affordable hot meals directly to those in need.

Apply for Meals

We serve adults 18 years and up who live in the city of Red Deer. Most of our clients are seniors.

Applications are taken by phone or walk-in. No referral is required. We are not able to take applications by email.

Family members are welcome to call with questions about the program.

About Us

Red Deer Meals on Wheels was established in 1979. For more than 45 years we've been helping people in our community stay in their own homes by making sure they get a good meal every weekday.

A daily delivery is also a daily visit. Our volunteers say hello, have a quick chat and make sure everything is okay, which gives families peace of mind.

Volunteer With Us

We ask for 90 minutes of your time to deliver meals to people's homes within the city of Red Deer. All volunteers leave at 11:15 a.m. to make their deliveries over the lunch hour.

To volunteer, you'll need:

  • Your own vehicle
  • A clean criminal record check

Every year we host a volunteer appreciation luncheon along with our Annual General Meeting.
